Really cool wind-deflectors which swivel down to pull air in through the sunroof. Saab makes these for their newer cars, but not the classic 900's. This is an 85 SPG.

Same car. This is waiting in line at the gate to go up the mountain. They try to space your cars a little, but we all stuck together going up. (not literally)

This is the gatehouse where you paid money to go up the mountain. Probably the park ranger spends most of his time here, handing our cassettes with the tour. I didn't have a cassette player, so I don't know what was on them.

The road going up the mountain is about half dirt and half paved. I'd hate to be in a huge paving machine with such poor sides on the road. It's a very interesting ride in a Saab, and I recommend it to everyone. There's barely room for two cars, and some places there is room for one car width.

Another shot of the same road. It turns into paved road just behind me. As we got higher, we sort of went into the clouds and it got foggy.

Things were pretty foggy, windy and cool at the top. Not much of a view, but WTOS (A Maine station) came in very nicely with antenna which does not deploy properly. Most of my photos at the top were done with my 18mm lens. This is real wide angle, so you can see a lot, and fog doesn't get between me and the photo.

Sharing Saab pictures and stories. The picture at hand is the "Cant get to heaven in a Volvo" photo of a Saab infront of a church. You might have seen it on TSN.

This is some of the weather center stuff and communications equipment at the top of the mountain. Mount Washington supposedly has the nastiest weather on earth during the winter.

Here's the cog railway. This is a steam powered train which takes people up and down the mountain. It makes quite a noise and looks kinda fun.

Here's inside the lodge at the top. They have a restraunt, gift shop, museum etc... I had some tea. The 18mm lens is real nice inside.

We lost one car and occupants in the fog, but here's our cars.

As you can tell, this is well above the timberline. My car is the white 900T, and I'm in the red/blue windbreaker and shorts. Please feel free to identify yourself in any of the photos, and i'll update the page.

Here's looking out the sunroof on the way down. For passengers, going down is more frightening then going up.

More views from the sunroof.

More views from the sunroof. Love them sides of the road!

Sorry, not photos of dirt donuts. I only had one or two shots left and was saving them for when my car got to do some donuts, but the park ranger came and broke things up.

Photos take with a Nikon F4s by Jason Philbrook or Jacob Post with either an 18mm or 28-70mm lens. Scanned with a 7-year old Microtek flatbed scanner from prints.
